Youth sets himself on fire at D-Chowk

ISLAMABAD: A youth who immolated himself at D-Chowk during a protest demonstration on Friday died a few hours after the incident in Pakistan Institute of Medical Science.  The 25-year-old Fazal Rabbi of Peshawar was demonstrating in front of the Parliament Lodges, when suddenly he immolated himself. He was shifted to PIMS for his serious burn injuries by the Secretariat police. The police said, “Normally people take such steps just to record their demonstration, but Fazal Rabbi’s reasons for taking such an extreme measure are unclear.”  Initially he was shifted to Poly Clinic (hospital) where the doctors referred him to PIMS. The hospital sources had earlier said that the victim had 50 percent chances of his survival. “The victim is in critical situation and it will take some time to declare how much he has burned his body,” said the source.
